Researchers announce possible cure for mantle cell lymphoma.
Danish researchers may have found a cure for mantle cell lymphoma, according to a study presented at the American Society of Hematology meeting.
Researchers at the Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen used a "complex regimen that included immunochemotherapy" to treat "159 people with mantle cell lymphoma."
They administered "six cycles of immunochemotherapy, aimed at arousing the immune system, followed by high-dose chemotherapy with stem cell support."
The researchers found that, among the "114 people who completed treatment, 72 percent were disease-free at five years."
