California hospitals utilize automated patient tracking system in EDs.
Officials at West Anaheim Medical Center have announced "the successful installation of a patient tracking and integrated data system within its emergency department (ED)."
The system, called Emergency Department Management, or EDM, uses "[f]lat screen monitors" that are "mounted in central locations." These monitors "display just enough patient information to staff and clinicians to inform them of a patient's treatment, while keeping their patient's identity and health information private."
Physicians "can enter free text notes, and report documentation into the system to add to the patient's medical record." In addition, information regarding a patient's "visit is stored within the system for future visits."
"All of PHS' hospitals in Orange County have the tracking system installed in their" EDs. May be you can start this system in your place too.
