Research indicates iPods may not interfere with heart pacemakers.
According to a study published in BioMedical Engineering OnLine, "portable media players such as iPods are unlikely to interfere with heart pacemakers."
Howard Bassen, an FDA researcher, and colleagues, found that the media players "did not produce enough of an electromagnetic field to interfere with" heart pacemakers.
The media players (which were all types of iPods) used for the study "gave off 'miniscule' voltages," adds WebMD (2/1, Hitti).
